Welcome to the website for Nintai Dojo, a karate school that teaches traditional Okinawan Goju-ryu karate.
Goju-ryu karate (or hard-soft style karate) is a somewhat less known form of karate in the Netherlands. It is a traditional karate style that stems from Okinawa, an island at the south end of Japan. The origins of Goju-ryu karate are a combination of chinese kungfu and a quite hard martial art from the harbour city of Naha in Okinawa called 'naha-te'. This makes Goju-ryu a unique combination of both hard and soft techniques, of both technical and speed aspects where both the practicality of close combat and self defense as well as breathing and meditation play a role.
I recently started my own dojo (karate school) in Utrecht in this karate style after training and teaching Goju-ryu for multiple years in the dojo of my teacher in Wageningen (kenkon.org).
If you think this unique style of karate might be for you and you wish to train or if you are already familiar with the style and wish to continue training in Utrecht you are welcome to come to a lesson or send a message.
If you are interested in a course of several classes in the basics of karate, self defense or you wish to organize a training for your friends there are always options, please feel free to e-mail me. Courses will start based on how many people are interested and will only start after all covid restrictions are lifted and all participants are vaccinated.
