Nintai dojo

Nintai dojo is a new dojo where we teach Goju-ryu karate. This style of karate is somewhat lesser known in the Netherlands and thus there are not that many karate schools that teach this style of karate.
Nintai dojo was started by me, Lara de Vries, I am the only karate teacher (sensei) for Nintai dojo and Goju-ryu karate in Utrecht.

About me
After training several different martial arts in my early youth I started training Goju-ryu karate according to the International Okinawan Goju-ryu karate-do Federation (IOGKF) in 2006. In 2012 I passed my first Dan exam (first degree blackbelt) and started teaching at Kenkon, the dojo of my Sensei Sydney Leijenhorst. Since the beginning of 2018 I am an 3rd Dan in Goju-ryu karate according to the IOGKF.
I still really enjoy training Goju-ryu and find it exciting and stimulating to share what I have learned with others by teaching. Since there was no Goju-ryu dojo in Utrecht yet this seemed a great opportunity to start my own dojo and so, with the help of my Sensei and others within the IOGKF in the Netherlands, I did.

Even though the start was a little bit rough, since after teaching outside during the summer and teaching a beginners course in 2019 I had to temporarily halt all teaching due to covid. This year I hope to start again and after giving free training outside I hope to start teaching regular classes in the fall.
